IMB | Week of Prayer

Your prayers for the multitudes transform lives. On this page, you’ll find stories about and specific ways to pray for IMB missionaries during the Week of Prayer for International Missions, November 29 – December 6. This is just a glimpse of the incredible impact your prayers have on the work of taking the gospel to the multitudes.

IMB missionary Kristen Lowry and the staff at Naivasha Children’s Shelter are rescuing and rehabilitating boys living on the streets of Kenya. Once rejected by society, boys are hearing they are loved, and they are learning they have a future and a purpose.

PRAY that Frances and other boys like him will find new life in Christ.

PRAY that as the boys are reconciled with their families, the families will also find hope in Jesus.

PRAY that God will bless the work of the shelter’s staff as they reach out in love to boys who are hurting.

How do you find people who are seeking God? In Croatia, a nation of four million, finding people who are interested in the gospel can be challenging. Many Croatians are hearing the gospel for the first time through a radio program hosted by IMB missionaries.

PRAY that more national partners will choose to be a part of sharing the gospel across Croatia.

PRAY that more church plants will result from the radio broadcast ministry.

Medicine provides a means of sharing the gospel with people in Thailand. By hosting mobile medical clinics, IMB missionaries, national partners and healthcare volunteers from the U.S. can share about the healing that Christ brings.

PRAY none of the new Christians would fall away from the faith.

PRAY those who have yet to decide will choose to commit their lives to Christ.
PRAY for the formation of healthy churches in Baan Po.

IMB missionaries and national partners in the Americas are working to reach the remnant—hidden people who have no gospel witness. Reaching these widely dispersed people is no easy feat, but that doesn’t stop indigenous Christians and IMB missionaries from taking the gospel deep into the jungle.

PRAY for Joe, Edwin and their teams as they share the gospel with the Akawa.

PRAY that many members of the Akawa will come to faith in Jesus.

PRAY that new Akawa believers will gather into groups and start churches.

Stories of the persecuted church never seem to cease. What can we do? How do we respond?

THANK GOD for the men and women who, with their children, have traveled to the ends of the earth to share the gospel with those who have never heard.

THANK GOD for the uninterrupted witness of Southern Baptists among the nations for 175 years.
ASK GOD to continue to protect missionaries and their families serving in cross-cultural and often difficult areas around the globe.
For this IMB missionary family, serving in Italy is not just a calling—it’s living life as an incarnational witness among people who they love and call family. Charlie and Shannon Worthy and their children embraced Italian culture, and they are seeing Italians embrace Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

PRAY that the Worthys will continue to build strong relationships in Italy.

PRAY that many Italians will come to faith in Christ as a result of the Worthys’ witness.
PRAY that new Italian believers will gather into churches to reach the people of Italy with the gospel.
Ministry among an unreached people group in South Asia is difficult, and it’s often slow. God is using a growing number of new Christians to shine as bright lights in their communities. IMB workers say the harvest is plentiful in their area of South Asia, but the workers are few.

PRAY local Christians would be bold in sharing the gospel with the Khaleela.

ASK for discernment for the Adairs and the Serranos as they share the gospel and train local Christians.
PRAY the Lord would send more Christian workers to partner with the Serranos and Adairs.
For 175 years, Southern Baptists have unwaveringly proclaimed the gospel in the midst of wars, disasters, plagues, economic downturns and political upheaval. God continues to use Southern Baptists to share the gospel with a world in need of a Savior. We’re in this together.

PRAISE GOD for the continued work of Southern Baptists who have remained committed to reaching the lost for more than 175 years.

ASK GOD to send more individuals and churches who will be committed to the vision of reaching all nations and all peoples with the gospel.
THANK GOD for sustaining the work of missionaries through all circumstances, including the most recent global pandemic.
